How to protect against noise Sound insulation in aluminum and glass facades?

SIDERISE solutions and products increasing sound insulation in facade structures.

Noise can be defined in many ways, it can be defined as persistent sounds of excessive intensity, perceived by people within their range at least as bothersome, and in many cases also harmful. Simply put, noise is any sound that is undesirable to the listener at the moment.

There is no need to convince anyone about the negative impact of noise on health, but also on the comfort of life, therefore the issue of acoustic insulation in windows, doors and glass facades is becoming more and more important.

The issues of acoustic insulation should be approached comprehensively due to the known fact that insulation is only as good as its weakest link. Figure 1 shows possible sound transmission paths between two rooms located on different floors. Sounds are transmitted through:

  1. floor slab
  2. sealing of the inter-story strip
  3. empty facade pole
  4. bolt
  5. facade glazing
  6. vibrations of structural elements of the facade

In order to meet the ever-increasing requirements of acoustic insulation, it is necessary to search for new solutions and products. The Siderise company, whose representative in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe is Proventuss, offers a wide range of products including, among others, inserts for mullions and transoms, acoustic mats for the insulation of the façade connection with a reinforced concrete structure, and insulation foams for covering the structure in order to dampen and reduce vibrations.

The product group of inserts for mullions and transoms – M ullion I nsert – MI consists of a number of products with different densities and varying degrees of insulation. Depending on the shape of the column, a given insert can be cut to a specific size and length to speed up the prefabrication of the facade.

On the other hand, A costic B arier AB acoustic mats, available in two thicknesses AB5 – 5mm and AB10 – 10mm, can be used in conjunction with SIDERISE CW-FS fire insulation as well as with other products for insulation of the inter-story belt. Figure 3 shows a diagram of the belt sealing with the Siderise AB mat from above.

Siderise’s offer is not limited to the supply of top-class insulation products, a very important element is the service provided by a team of specialists: acoustic engineers and Proventuss technical advisers. As part of the service, we provide the selection of products and review of solutions in terms of meeting the requirements set out in the acoustic survey, tools for valuation, assembly training, audits and support on the construction site.
